Visiting Circular

Sunday Morning Worship: 11 a.m. (10:15 a.m. from the first Sunday in June through Labor Day).
Our service uses a traditional format with choir and organ, preaching and the celebration of the sacraments. It begins with a gathering time of exchanging
greetings and making announcements. The service proceeds through the drama of worship following what Matthew Fox called the four movements of Christian spirituality: via positiva, via negativa, via creativa, and via transformativa. These movements generate expressions of praise, the interior gaze of confession, a creative interpretation of life and discipleship for children (in a “Children's Welcome”) and adults (the Teaching), and re-dedication to serving the city and world. The service is “user-friendly.” Visitors are not singled out for attention but are welcomed at the door and in the fellowship hour after the service in the Hall behind the sanctuary.

Sundays at 9:45, Church School for all ages.
Classes are available for preschool through adult. Look under the youth and adult tabs for more information.  Does not meet during the Summer Worship period.

Summer Worship.
From the first Sunday in June through Labor Day, the congregation gathers each Sunday at 10:15 a.m. for Summer Worship, enjoying a more relaxed atmosphere and sometimes using experimental worship forms. Church School is in summer recess.

Parking.
Many of the lots close to the church are free for Circular people on Sunday mornings. You may use the Cumberland Street Parking Garage, entered off Cumberland between Meeting and Church Streets, where you should show your worship bulletin to the attendant when you leave. We also use the surface lot behind the bank on the corner of Meeting and Cumberland, next door to the church and the SCE&G lot across Meeting Street from our front door. Parking is free until 1:00 at these places.

Nursery.
a state-of-the-art nursery in the front of Lance Hall (ground floor) is staffed by professional nursery workers and parent volunteers during worship services and church school. Children are carefully supervised and older children have stories, games, and snacks. School-age children normally stay with parents in church or have special announced programs following the Children’s Welcome in worship.

Accessibility.
The sanctuary is fully accessible to wheel chairs and people with special needs via the ramp in the back of the building, starting close to the entrance from the parking lot. The second floor of Lance Hall and church school space is accessible by elevator. Hearing enhancement devices and large print bulletins/hymnals are available from the ushers before worship services.  There is also a large print Bible available for use during the service. If you find other challenges to your full participation in our worship and community, please speak to an usher or the pastor.
