Hungry Monk Fiddlers 5/20

Hungry Monk Fiddlers Recital, this Sunday at Circular at 4pm

For the past several years, the Violin Department of Hungry Monk Music Studios in West Ashley has held its bi-annual recitals in the lovely Sanctuary of your historic Circular Church. Our original intention was to hold recitals in various venues throughout the area exposing the children to a variety of performance spaces. However, after our very first recital at the Circular Church in December 2009, none of the students or parents want to go anywhere else!

Everything about the experience has been wonderful. The space is a perfect size for us. The acoustics are tremendous. Robin and Jimmie are two of the most helpful people I have ever worked with. We are really starting to feel at home in the Circular Church.

Last summer, we held our first annual O’Connor Method Violin Camp in downtown Charleston and utilized several of the rooms in Lance and the Green Building for our classes. The experience couldn’t have been better. Many out-of- towners remarked on how special it was to have the camp in such an historic location. Mark O’Connor, himself was present for the last two days of the camp. When he found out that Amazing Grace had been “born” at the Circular Church, he couldn’t wait until he could get inside and play his versions of that wonderful tune. You can see and hear Mark playing 4 different versions of Amazing Grace in the Circular Church on YouTube.

We wish to send a great big THANK YOU to the entire Circular Church community for being so generous with the sharing of their space and invite you to our recital on Sunday, May 20th at 4pm. Please join us!
